Opened on January 14, 1996 with a concert of the soprano Katia Ricciarelli, the Teatro della Regina. This was the first theatre which was designed and built from scratch in Italy after the war. Made in record time, (only nine years - an amazing feat considering the time required for a simple restoration of a theater) the new Catholic theater is the symbolic commitment that Cattolica has for artistic culture endeavor as a means of civil growth.
The layout of the theater is the classic horseshoe. There are two sets of balconies which is crowned by a large gallery, which is considered to be a third balcony. The balconies are encased with a blond wood, the use of which provides simply perfect acoustics.
Architect Pier Luigi Cervellati has succeeded in combining extreme elegance and modernity. The design is based on the classical Italian theater. But also provides functionality and versatility required for the modern theater. 'Arena of the Regina', host many concerts throughout the summer.
